Use An Internet Camera
To Support Your Streaming Needs

You may need an Internet camera today more than at any other time.

Just about everything you accomplish today can be done online...and a good webcam is part of that experience

Essentially what an internet web camera does is that it sends video directly from your computer to your desired location.

You can now chat with your friend whose miles away or maybe even another country and actually see him or her and what their doing.

Network Camera Support

Hardware

  • Most web cameras connect directly into your computer.
  • Can be known as wired Ethernet that may consist of adjustable antennas for added WiFi use.
  • Many webcams can be put to use with any usual tripod or attached directly to your computer.
  • The camera has to be focused by using the focus ring. This ring is front mounted.
Software
  • Software usually consists of a Compact Disc that comes along with the camera.
  • This software must be installed before the internet web camera can work properly.
  • The web camera is set up and the preferences are specified using the web browser interface.

ActiveX control
  • An ActiveX control must be downloaded and installed on the viewing computer.
  • This will enable you in seeing the video stream from a remote location on the Internet.
  • The control must be placed on a server that is accessed continuously.
  • The small OCX control could be placed on a personal web site and uploaded using the FTP process.
  • The directory path must have a trailing backslash.

A networked internet camera on its own runs a web server on Port 80.

Those who are running a web server on the network can allocate an alternative second port for the camera.

The correct port must be forwarded on the router to the IP, where the camera is assigned.

The Web browser interface is used to configure the image properties.

This includes the video resolution. The quality of the video stream can be handled by the compression and frame rate settings.

Light frequency, hue, contrast and brightness can be adjusted.

The internet camera gets the date and time from the time server or Network Time Protocol.

To use this function, there is a necessity of the IP address of the server in place of the friendly server name. Another method is to specify the time manually.
