A Video Extension Is Critical
In Rescaling Your Media

Video extension is actually a mechanism of video output for the window system.

The main use of a video media extension is to rescale the video playback in the hardware.

To be more precise it is used to rescale the video playbacks into the hardware of the graphics card.

This is often done to watch a particular video in full screen mode or to simply enlarge it.

Video Media Extension Overview
  • When the video file extension mechanism was not available in the market the scaling of the videos were done through software.
  • Rescaling through the software requires a considerable processing power.
  • The processing power required is such that at some times it is to the point of degrading the stream of the video.
  • The extension mechanism also has another option of graphic card.
  • And thus it also performs the function of the color space conversion.
The video media extension mechanism can also be used for the purpose of other editing functions such as changing the contrast, hue and brightness of the concerned video stream that is to be displayed in the hardware. This in turn saves a considerable amount of processing power.

Video Streaming Extension Dependency
  • The concerned graphic card hardware should be able to provide for the required functions of the video extension mechanism.
  • The device driver of the software for the graphics card and also the server program should be able to support the video interface.
  • The video playback software should be able to make proper use of the provided interface.

Today, most graphics cards provide functions required for video file extension rescaling.

Also known as hardware scaling, YUV acceleration or sometimes as the hardware selection process.

The protocol itself contains features for both reading and writing of the video streams to and from the video adapters.

The majority of files downloaded from the internet come are in some form of text, graphics, audio or video files.

Some of these media contents can be compressed but there are some which can not.

Video file extension has made video streaming and other editing process easy for users.

The processing speed required for earlier version was very high, but with the advancement of video extension, this processing time was dramatically shortened.

This lead to faster video processing time and ultimately streaming media.
