Use Video Podcast
To Deliver Your Message

Many see a video podcast as a great way to send video messages to friends and family...no matter where they are.  You can setup a podcast to receive mobile video messages anywhere.

Video Podcasting is also known as vodcast or vidcast.  In simple terms, it is the method of delivering video clips online, and is sometimes thought of as video on demand.

The term POD is the term used for Portable.  A podcast is transmitted on internet through RSS or Atom form. The RSS form is used to attach the video on the internet along with its URL.

Basically the podcast is merely the hyperlink to the video clip. The data is not posted completely in the attachment. Instead, only the hyperlink to that data is provided.

How Video Podcasting work
  • Some entertainment companies provide a video service which can be subscribed to by PC users.
  • And these users would then receive podcasts at specified times.
  • From there, it is distributed to various users as stream or file.
  • The video can be viewed without downloading it.
  • If the video clip is sent in file form, it must be downloaded. Thus, you can watch the video at any time, without an internet connection.

When you subscribe to RSS feed, the updated news, videos and other streaming media is directly sent to you.  In this case, you would not have to search through hundreds of sites to see what the updated news or videos are.

Make your own Video Podcast
  • Though several websites offer the podcasting video service, you can make your own video streaming podcast.
  • You will need some equipment for this.
  • First, you will need a recorder. This can be a digital video camera. The video recorded on the camera is edited by special software.
  • Install the software on your PC.
  • Sign-up for web hosting website to publish your video.
  • Record the video clip from the digital video camera.

Many mobile phones also have the video recorder installed. The mobile phones, however, possess low resolution and may not deliver sharp picture.

Some of the high end mobiles have the facility like “Movie Maker”.

The recorded video is transferred to the PC through a data cord, via USB.

A card reader can also be used to transfer the video for digital camera to PC.

The video is edited with the editor software.

The software converts the video in the form that can be recognized by computer.  Generally, the videos are converted into .mov or .m4v video extension.

Now the well edited video is ready to be fed on the video hosting service website.  The website will provide you with a video blog and podcast section. The website displays your video on the internet. Other viewers can now view the video.
