Windows
Movie Maker software can be used to create, edit, and share home videos
right on your own computer.
You can create the movie with just a few
drag and drops of the best scenes.
You can use the software to create
video e-mails or CD’s. You can also use other software, such as Movie
Edit Magic, to create a DVD of your home video.
If you desire, you can
upload the movie back onto your video camcorder for viewing.
Using
Windows Movie Maker is a great way to capture home videos from your
digital camcorder and convert them into movies that you upload to the
server that hosts your website or upload to a video sharing
service.
This software program is part of Windows XP Service
Pack 2 (SP2) and higher.
So if you have Windows XP and SP2, you do not
have to
download it from the Windows website. If you do not have Windows XP,
you can download it easily from the Windows website.

Movie maker is an easy to use software program that requires little to
no technical knowledge for making your own professional looking movies.
All you need is desire and the ability to be as creative as you want to
be.
To take advantage of the capabilities of Windows Movie Maker you
will need the following computer
and hardware and software, as a
minimum:
- Digital
camcorder – any digital camera that has a firewire of USB connections
for transferring videos to computer
- Computer that has USB or Firewire connections –
for connecting to
digital camcorder and external hard disk
- External hard disk that has USB connections –
to store home movies that
you have created
- CD
Burner – for recording movies
- DVD Burner – for use with Movie Edit Magic
software
- Computer made in the past three years or at
least a 600 MHz processor
- 500 MB of RAM or more – preferably more
- 20 GB of free hard disk space – to have enough
room to store and work
with videos
- Head
phones – for ease of listening to sounds when editing the movie
Windows
Movie Maker gives you the tools to make your home movie look
professional. These features include:
- Transitions – for adding fades, flips, and
slides from one scene to
another scene. You can make the movie look older, change the
brightness, or speed up scenes
- You can add titles and credits – you can give
the movie professional
looking titles and credits with just a few clicks
- Add music – you can insert background songs in
the movie to support
scenes and add dramatic effects
- Add narration – you can even add your own voice
narration to the movie
to help add to the atmosphere or give details things that need added
explanations
